Selections for Commission positions are based on merit, meaning that:
- an assessment is made of the relative suitability of the candidates for the duties, using a competitive selection process; and
- the assessment is based on the relationship between the candidates' work-related qualities and the work-related qualities genuinely required for the duties; and
- the assessment focuses on the relative capacity of the candidates to achieve outcomes related to the duties; and
- the assessment is the primary consideration in making the decision.

- Graduates:
The Commission does not have a formal Graduate Program, however graduates are encouraged to apply for positions vacant at the Commission. - Volunteers:
For insurance reasons, the Commission is not able to employ people on a voluntary basis. People wishing to volunteer for human rights organisations may wish to contact agencies such as Amnesty International or other community groups such as those listed on the Links page of the website. - Interns/Work Experience:
University students wishing to undertake an internship or school students wishing to undertake work experience at the Commission should make their request through their school or university. Appropriate insurance coverage is required through the relevant institution. Opportunities for internships or work experience at the Commission are limited. - Non-Ongoing Employment

Research Fellow Selection Criteria
The Research Fellow will work on the 'Valuing Unpaid Caring Work Research Project' and commence as soon as possible.
This is a non-ongoing (temporary) employment opportunity until July 2012 (expected period but subject to change)
