Young People and Human Rights - A National Dialogue

Congratulations to the state and territory winners of the Commission’s Art and Essay Competitions!

The Commission, in association with the Australian Red Cross, would like to congratulate the state and territory winners of the Human Writes Essay Competition and the Rights in Perspective Art Competition.

We received 544 entries this year, triple the number of last year’s entries. Our judging panels were very impressed by the number of intelligent, creative and passionate entries.

The winning essays cover issues such as racism, refugees, and terrorism, while our winning art entries explore themes such as homelessness, the Cronulla riots, bullying, freedom of speech and unfair dismissal in the workplace.

Below is a complete list of winners, runners up and highly commended entrants.

State winners received a book voucher and national winners received an iPod or a digital camera. The winners of the national competition were selected from amongst the state and territory winners.
