Commission joins Bridge Walk for Reconciliation
The President, Commissioners and staff of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission will be joining the Corroboree 2000 Bridge Walk this coming Sunday.
Commission President Professor Alice Tay, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner Dr Bill Jonas and Human Rights Commissioner Chris Sidoti will be joined by staff, family and friends behind a banner made especially for the occasion.
The Commission contingent is scheduled to leave North Sydney at 8.30 am.
Writing in the media today Commissioner Jonas stressed the importance of the occasion when he said that "by acknowledging the truth of our past, hopefully a new relationship, based on equality, can be forged."
