National Inquiry to visit Western Australia
The Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission's National Inquiry into Children in Immigration Detention will visit Western Australia from 10 to 19 June and will hold a public meeting in Perth, visit detention centres in Perth, Port Hedland and Derby and hold confidential meetings for the Inquiry.

However, some evidence may be given in camera and the Commission has
powers to suppress information that may identify certain individuals.

The Inquiry team will also visit the following detention facilities in Western Australia:
- Tuesday June 11: Perth IDC at Perth airport
- Wednesday June 12 & Thursday June 13: Port Hedland IRPC
- Monday June 17 to Wednesday June 19: Curtin IRPC at Derby
The Commission will not comment on issues raised in confidential hearings or make detailed observations about the detention centre visits at this time. The purpose of these meetings and visits is to gather evidence for the Inquiry and to assist in preparing the final report to Government.
