Subject: Exemption from discrimination legislation.
I agree with the statement that "the power for an administrative body such
as HREOC to grant exemptions from laws established by the Parliament is exceptional,
and should only be exercised where clear justification is shown. This is particularly
the case since exercise of this power under the SDA and DDA is not subject to
disallowance by the Parliament, unlike powers provided under many Acts of Parliament
to modify the effect of those Acts by later regulation." I
wish to support the submissions from A Denman, Dr A Papa, Flight Attendants Association,
W Hamilton and the Civil Air Association strongly opposing any granting of exemptions
exemption under the Disability Discrimination Act, S.55
and the Sex Discrimination Act, S.44: Civil Aviation Medical Standards.
Any granting of this application is unjustified and unnecessary. It is
simply not needed. Your faithfully Don Nixon AOPA 25727
