I write regarding Rex Airlines Requested DDA Exemptions:
Rex submits that:
I write as the parent of a disabled person who travels frequently and needs a Carer at all times to help with toileting/feeding etc.
A passenger who must have an attendant Carer, is discriminated against financially when the Carer’s ticket must be purchased, regardless of the discount offered.
Because of my son’s disability, he is unable to visit his father as frequently as he would otherwise because of the extra financial burden of having to purchase a Carer ticket for every flight. A non-disabled child would be able to visit his father twice as often. This is discrimination against the disabled. If Rex, and any other airline, requires a Carer to assist a disabled traveller, then it should be at no extra cost to the traveller.
Yours sincerely,
