DVD burning - what is an ISO file?

An "ISO" is simply an image file. It contains all the information that is on a CD or DVD, and stores it in one file. Using a burning software you can create and write a CD/DVD image. Not all burning programs use the same format for ISOs. Different burning programs may create different types of CD/DVD images.

Burning the ISO image file to a CD or DVD is a bit different than just burning a normal file. You'll need to choose the 'burn image' or 'write image' option in your burning software and then choose the file.

CD-Burning - what is an NRG file?

A .nrg file is an proprietary CD image file format used by Nero Burning ROM, a utility suite made by NERO to create and burn CD images.

Here's the steps for both the .ISO and .NRG image files to create your own CD or DVD:

Step 1: Insert a blank CD or DVD in your drive, depending on the file you have downloaded.

Step 2: Open NERO burner program.

Step 3: Select Burn Image to disc

Step 4: Browse to the file location where you have downloaded and saved the file to.

Step 5: Double click on the file.

Step 6: Click Burn.

Tip:
You must have a CD or DVD burner to write ISO/NRG files to CDs or DVDs. You will not be able to burn ISO/NRG files if you only have a standard CD or DVD drive.
