Community Partnerships for Human Rights
Working with and for Muslim Communities

All Australians – no matter what their national, cultural or religious background – have a right to feel safe, respected and part of the community in which they live.
In recent years HREOC has consulted closely with Muslim communities to identify and address prejudice, intolerance and discrimination.
Our Community Partnerships for Human Rights program builds on this work. It aims to develop greater awareness and understanding of human rights issues, tackle stereotypes and increase Muslim Australians’ sense of social inclusion.
Our projects cover a wide range of areas, including research, education, community participation and resource development.
This work is led by Tom Calma, the Race Discrimination Commissioner.
