From: Tracy Wiegard Sent: Monday, 7 December 2009 2:00 PM To: disabdis Subject: Cinema Captioning & Audio Description To Whom it may Concern: I am writing to express my great concern at the recent application by cinemas to obtain a 2.5 year excemption from displaying captioning for the deaf, and audio description for the vision impaired. This totally disregards a basic human respect for the deaf/vision impaired who already struggle with other issues with regard to being deaf/vision impaired, and this adds onto the already big weight-load that we have to carry, simply to survive. I am deaf myself, and do not agree that we should have to wait until DVDs come out to be able to access such movies. We already have to do extra things to cope in YOUR world, the hearing world, and we are asking that you reject this application and show that you are willing to work with us to show that we are equal and have as much right to access captioning & audio description as you do, without the extra blockages that we currently face. Please consider this request seriously and oppose the application. Sincerely, Tracy Wiegard
