Human rights warriors, you are in luck! We have extended the deadline for nominations for the Human Rights Awards until Monday 29 July to give you the chance to put forward yourself, or someone you know, to be recognised as one of the greats of 2019.

We urge anyone who has been working to promote human rights in Australia, or who knows of an individual, organisation, or business that has been a champion in this area, to celebrate their achievements by nominating them in one of our nine awards categories:

  • Human Rights Medal
  • Young People’s Human Rights Medal
  • Law Award
  • Business Award
  • Community Organisation Award
  • Government Award
  • Media Award
  • Racism. It Stops With Me Award
  • Tony Fitzgerald Memorial Community Individual Award

Each year, we receive outstanding nominations from across the government, business, legal and community sectors, so we have decided to extend the deadline to ensure no worthy individuals or organisations miss out.

Successful nominees will have the opportunity to meet other dedicated human rights advocates at the Human Rights Awards ceremony on Friday 13 December.

“This is always a joyous occasion,” says Commission President Emeritus Professor Rosalind Croucher.

“Our finalists are leaders in the human rights causes they promote and set a stunning example of advocacy in this area.”

For information on how to nominate, please visit the Human Rights Awards website.
