Our Agenda

There is no simple way to solve complex human rights issues. From the challenges that face a person with a disability seeking independent living, through to immigration detention policy, the promotion of rights and freedoms must address issues for individuals as well as the need for broader, systemic change. The Commission uses a range of integrated approaches, while also focusing on particular areas of discrimination through our specialised Commissioners.

This document provides an overview of the Commission’s major activities and programs for 2014-2015.

The Commission’s work is guided by priorities and goals. Our priorities provide a thematic focus that cuts across all areas of our work – from the advocacy of our Commissioners, to our policy and research program, to the work of our Investigation and Conciliation Service. Our goals reflect our aspirations as an organisation.

Goal 1: Leadership, Goal 2: Rights and Freedoms are Protected, Goal 3: Access to effective information and dispute resolution services, Goal 4: Organisational excellence.
