This report
outlines the key findings from community consultations held in 1996 with
non-English speaking background communities. Feedback from these consultations
revealed that, despite daily experiences of racism, many people do not
lodge formal complaints under the Racial Discrimination Act 1975.Many people did not
know about the RDA or how it operated. The report makes several recommendations for amendments to the RDA arising
from the consultations.
